David Wardle is a Gateshead based artist.
In his previous work he used perspective drawing and painting on a daily basis to produce designs for home interiors.
His ideas come from what he see's everyday or when he makes a special trip such as his visit to the Farne Islands to see and photograph the puffins.
David then uses sketches and photographs as a reference to start a painting and often uses them pinned to the walls around his as he works.
Starting with a charcoal sketch David builds up the painting in layers
He uses mainly acrylic paint though some are mixed media combining oil paints in the final stages to give an extra richness.
David use of bold colours and shapes keeps everything to its simplest form and removes everything he feels does not add to the final painting.
